What is it?
Clinical reflection is such an important tool and method to bring together science based knowledge and link this to everyday practice. Through reflection a person is able to see and identify forms of thought and theory within the context of their work.
A therapist who reflects throughout their practice is not just looking back on past actions and events, but is taking a conscious look at their emotions, experiences, actions, and responses in the context of their work environment.
Why do it?
The therapist uses this information to add to their existing knowledge base and reach a higher level of understanding. This enables them to advance and develop professionally.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
What is it?
This refers to the process of tracking and documenting the skills, knowledge and experience that you gain both formally and informally as you work, beyond any initial training. It's a record of what you experience, learn and then apply. The canine therapist undertakes a professional obligation to maintain a current and relevant CPD Portfolio and work within their Scope of Practice.
CPD is based on quality, accountability and effective practice. It's important to keep up to date with new knowledge, techniques and evidence and record the learning pathway by evaluating how they can apply this to their practice.
Why do it?
Wherever you are in your therapy career, developing and maintaining your own CPD Portfolio is an absolute must. There are many tools available to record your own learning pathway and enjoy planning your CPD ahead to meet your unique career needs.
There is always something new to learn.
How to claim your CPD certificates
Each Hub requests a CPD Activity to be completed and for you to then visit this CPD Hub to process and claim your certificate. The CPD Activity is optional and it's not a submitted task, but a suggestion to progress your knowledge.
The next step after completing your CPD Activity is to apply for your CPD Certificate listing the Hub and topic you chose to study.
You are requested to complete a short paragraph of reflection describing how the CPD Activity and topic covered in the HUB Resource may impact on your canine practice.
Reflection is such a useful clinical tool for professionals and is part of your professional CPD requirement. By reflecting on your chosen areas you decide to explore in the Resource Library, you can identify your clinical and professional progress. (Gentle Hint: This is not feedback to us about the Library).
Please enter the same email in your CPD form below as you used to register for the library, in order to receive your CPD Certificate.
